| Major announcement - SRS funding for transpeople in need.
Hi everyone,
It is with some pleasure that I announce the start of VicGender's
program to provide an alternate pathway to SRS in Thailand for
Melbourne's gender community.
We will be working with Dr. Saran in Bangkok and one of the young
girls within the group (she already knows who she is but this will be
made official later) will be traveling with me and Belinda to Bangkok
on October 4th and hopefully returning alive and well as a post-op.
Belinda will also be having SRS on this trip.
Funds will be made available as a loan which will be subject to
repayment once the person is recovered and able to find work and go on
with their life.
I'll be keeping the community informed and there will be plans for
further fundraising activity to give SRS to people who need it and
cannot afford it themselves.
Michelle will be setting up a proper charitable foundation using her
experience running the Blue Light Foundation to raise money for the
families of Victoria Police who died in action.
This foundation will hopefully be able to raise enough funds (and
potentially gain government funding) to end our access-to-medical-care
problems once and for all. With Mr. Ceber retiring in 2-3 years this
is a decisive step which we hope will ensure the safety and comfort of
all of us into the long-term future.
I wish to thank the people (all on the group) who have delayed things
like bathroom renovations and minor plastic surgery of their own and
have donated TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($10,000) to make this exercise
possible.
